Although cable ties are inconspicuous, their importance cannot be ignored. The main function of cable zip ties is to integrate, fix and organize the wire harness. If the quality of zip ties is not good, they will become loose or broken during use. At the least, the wire harness will be entangled, affecting the appearance and product image; at the worst, the circuit will short-circuit and catch fire, the plane will crash, and the car will be destroyed and people will die. Therefore, companies that attach importance to product quality are often very rigorous in the selection of nylon cable ties.
1. Material selection
When choosing cable ties, the application occasions should be considered first, mainly factors such as temperature and light. Generally, the cable ties of cable tie companies use nylon as raw material, which has the characteristics of wide applicable temperature range and corrosion resistance. Nylon cable ties have the characteristics of fast bundling speed, good insulation, self-locking fastening, and easy use. Different ingredients are added during the production process to make the product suitable for different occasions. In places where the temperature requirements of the car are not high, such as inside the car, we can choose general cable ties of -40-85℃. However, in the engine compartment, there are certain temperature requirements for the cable ties of the wire harness. Generally, we choose cable ties of -40-105℃, and heat-resistant materials need to be added at this time.
2. Determination of minimum tensile strength
The minimum tensile strength is the key to selecting cable ties because it reflects the maximum load that the cable tie can withstand.
The inspection of the tool is not as simple as it seems. It is very important to follow the standard inspection procedures and keep the inspection conditions consistent, such as the size, cross-sectional area and moisture content of the cable zip tie. If different zip ties and/or different inspection conditions are used, it is easy to produce two different test results.
3. Common cable tie styles
1) Round hole cable ties are mostly used in places where the sheet metal is relatively flat, the wiring space is large, and the wiring harness is smooth, such as in the cab. The diameter of the round hole is generally 5-8mm;
2) Waist-shaped cable ties are mostly used in the thicker trunk or branch of the wiring harness. This type of cable tie cannot be rotated at will after installation. It has strong fixed stability and is mostly used in the engine compartment. The hole diameter is generally 12*6mm, 12*7mm;
3) Bolt-shaped cable ties are mostly used in places where the sheet metal is thick or uneven, and the wiring harness has irregular routing directions, such as in the firewall. The hole diameter is generally 5mm, 6mm;
4) Steel plate cable ties are mainly used at the edge of the steel plate to clamp the sheet metal, so that the wiring harness transitions smoothly and prevent the edge of the sheet metal from cutting the wiring harness. It is mostly used in the cab wiring harness and rear bumper. The sheet metal thickness is generally 0.8-2.0mm.
