Why Should the Cable Use Copper Core?

In a sense, wire and cable manufacturing industry is a material finishing and assembly industry. Copper is used as conductor, and the purity of copper is required to be above 99.95%. Some products should use oxygen free high-purity copper.

Low oxygen copper rod

Electrolytic copper is added while melting. There is no condition for full reduction of molten copper water. The whole melting process and copper water process cannot isolate oxygen, so the oxygen content is very high. Copper fused fuel is generally gas, gas combustion process, will directly affect the chemical composition of copper liquefaction, sulfur and hydrogen, etc. In the process of casting machine crystallizing wheel turning liquid copper into solid, oxygen isolation cannot be carried out, so a large amount of oxygen is absorbed for the second time in the casting process.

Due to the restriction of various factors, the temperature is not easy to control. The ingot casting temperature of the rolling mill should be controlled at 850℃. The greater the deviation, the greater the impact on the quality of the copper rod.

Oxygen free copper rod

Anaerobic copper rod is pure copper without oxygen and without any deoxidizer residue. But it actually contains very small amounts of oxygen and some impurities. According to the standard regulations, the oxygen content is not more than 0.02%, the total content of impurities is not more than 0.05%, the purity of copper is greater than 99.95%. Generally, electrolytic copper is used for production, and its resistivity is lower than that of low-oxygen copper rod. Therefore, in the production of products with strict requirements on resistance, oxygen-free copper rod is more economical. High quality raw materials are required for the manufacture of anaerobic copper rods.

According to oxygen content and impurity content, oxygen free copper rod is divided into TU1 and TU2 copper rod. The purity of TU1 anaerobic copper rod is 99.99%, and the oxygen content is no more than 0.001%. The purity of TU2 oxygen-free copper is 99.95%, and the oxygen content is no more than 0.002%.

The two differences:

1. On the inhalation and removal of oxygen and its presence

The oxygen content of low oxygen copper rod is generally in 200 (175) - 400 (450) ppm, so the oxygen into the liquid inhalation of copper, and on the contrary, oxygen in liquid copper to maintain a considerable time, was reduced and removed, usually the oxygen content of the rod are in the 10-50ppm below, the minimum can reach 1-2ppm. The oxygen in anaerobic copper is very low, so the structure of this copper is uniform and single-phase, which is good for toughness.

2. Inclusions, oxygen content fluctuations, surface oxides and possible differences in hot rolling defects

Compared with low-oxygen copper rod, the pulleability of anaerobic copper rod is superior in all the wired diameters. In addition to the above organization reasons, anaerobic copper rod has fewer inclusions, stable oxygen content, no defects that may be produced by hot rolling, lax oxygen monitoring, and unstable oxygen content will directly affect the performance of the rod.

3. The toughness of low oxygen copper rod and oxygen free copper rod is different

Both can be pulled up to 0.015mm, but the low-temperature oxygen-free copper in the low-temperature superconducting wire is only 0.001mm apart from the filaments.

4. The wire making process of low oxygen copper rod is different from that of no oxygen copper rod

The wire making process of low oxygen copper rod cannot be copied to the wire making process of no oxygen copper rod, at least the annealing process of the two is different. Because the softness of wire is greatly affected by the material composition and rod making, wire making and annealing process, it is not simple to say whether the low oxygen copper or no oxygen copper is soft or hard.
