Leakage current refers to the phenomenon that when the connector is in normal working condition, due to incomplete insulation of the insulating material, the existence of contact resistance or other reasons, the current flows in an unnecessary path. The magnitude of the leakage current directly reflects the quality of the connector's insulation performance, which is crucial to ensure the normal operation of the circuit and the safety of the equipment.

Leakage current measurement method
In order to accurately evaluate the leakage current performance of the connector, a suitable measurement method is required. Common connector leakage current measurement methods include the following:
1) High resistance meter method: Use a high resistance meter to measure the insulation resistance of the connector, and indirectly reflect the leakage current through the insulation resistance. This method is simple and easy, but it is greatly affected by the accuracy of the measuring instrument and the test conditions.
2) DC voltage method: Apply a certain DC voltage to both ends of the connector and measure the current value passing through the connector. This method can directly obtain the leakage current, but it is necessary to pay attention to the selection of voltage and safety protection during the measurement process.
3) AC voltage method: Apply a certain AC voltage to both ends of the connector, and evaluate the leakage current performance by measuring the amplitude and phase of the AC current. This method can simulate the leakage current situation under actual working conditions, but the measurement process is relatively complicated.

Common range of connector leakage current
The leakage current range of connectors varies depending on product type, specifications and application scenarios. Generally speaking, the leakage current of high-quality connectors should be at a low level to ensure the stability and safety of the circuit. In practical applications, the leakage current of connectors should generally meet the following requirements:
1) For low-voltage and low-current application scenarios, the leakage current of the connector should be as small as possible to avoid negative impact on circuit performance. The specific value may vary according to industry standards or product specifications.
2) For high-voltage and high-current application scenarios, although the leakage current of the connector may be relatively large, it still needs to be controlled within a safe range to prevent safety hazards such as electrical fires.
It should be noted that the size of the leakage current is not the only evaluation criterion for connector performance. When selecting a connector, its conductivity, mechanical properties, environmental adaptability and other aspects should also be considered comprehensively.
